The workshop on innovation and entrepreneurship in rural areas entitled “Competitive Agriculture and Sustainable Local Supply” took place in Pesnica, Slovenia, on March 12, 2019.

The event saw the participation of Mr. mag. Miran Mihelič, Acting Director General of the Agency for Agricultural Markets and Rural Development, Mrs mag. Andrejka Majhen, Head of the Cabinet of the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. dr. Aleksandra Pivec, Member of the National Assembly, Mr Marijan Pojbič, several other mayors and representatives of municipalities.

 

 

Our eNEET Rural partner STYRIAN TECHNOLOGY PARK was invited to attend and give speech; Tanja Senekovič, Senior Consultant at STP, emphasized the importance of transferring knowledge about innovation and competitiveness in agriculture as an entrepreneurial opportunity for young people living in rural areas.

The opportunity was therefore excellent to introduce the eNEET Rural Project to Slovenian stakeholders in the view of positive benefits and future collaboration for best project results.

During the event, challenges in rural development, competitiveness of the agricultural sector, local food supply, organic and biodynamic farming are only some of the topics highlighted by the attending institutions.
The event was also an important occasion for local and regional producers to present and showcase their products. More than 80 stakeholders from the field of agricultural holdings, companies and public institutes from Podravje (2nd largest region of Slovenia) attended. Local and regional newspapers and TV channels, such as BK, media covered the event.
