The annual forum, organized by the Association of Agricultural Producers
in Bulgaria, is one of the most significant events for the sector. The
conference was held on 6th- 7th of February 2019 in Varna (Admiral hotel
– k.k. Golden Sands).

UBBSLA experts, attending the event in order to reach the eNEET target
groups and stakeholders, had the opportunity to meet more than 600
participating farmers, representatives of the agrarian business and
branch organizations from agriculture, state administration experts,
NGOs and professional schools/universities.

During the forum, the national priorities in agriculture and the
strategic topics for the sector were discussed, the most up-to-date
information on regulatory changes, support and future opportunities were
provided.

Key highlights have been put on:
• The lack of agricultural workers in rural areas
• The possibilities of hiring third-country workers
• About 25% of the employed in agriculture in Bulgaria are over 65 years
of age, mostly men
• Nearly 80% of the workforce in the sector is family
• Most of the farms are engaged in grain production
• The role of vocational high schools for the needs of agribusiness, the
current situation and demographic challenges
• Paying in Bulgaria is not so lower than the European one in this
sector, however, there are no young workers

All these facts support the implementation of eNEET project in Bulgaria!
